The market for luxury yachts is currently so robust that the Dutch shipyard Feadship sold the 69-meter-long superyacht Sakura in just 6 weeks

The Dutch shipyard Feadship sold the 69-meter-long superyacht Sakura in just six weeks due to the current fervor of the luxury yacht industry. The anonymous billionaire will have to wait until 2025 to receive dispatch of his $100 million-plus vessel, which is still under construction.

Feadship is aware that there is no time to simply stand and observe. Especially given the unprecedented sales of superyachts that the maritime industry has witnessed in the past two years. While it’s great to see soaring numbers, it’s impossible to disregard the fact that this leads to incredibly lengthy lead times. The 74-year-old Dutch shipyard has released the 229-foot Sakura because it understands the market. The shipyard launched the vessel in May, drawing inspiration from the Japanese fragrant cherry tree, and in less than six weeks, Sakura was sold.

According to Feadship’s director of sales, Maarten Janssen, “He was attracted by the relatively short delivery period and the ability to bypass the waiting list. He adored the exterior and interior design, and the yacht’s configuration for family use was exactly what he desired.”

Italian studio FM Architettura creates a victor by imbuing the 229-foot vessel with Eastern minimalism and Scandinavian warmth. The exterior of the Japandi-style ship was designed by Studio De Voogt. The boat is immediately likable due to the use of materials such as light-colored teak, neutral tones, and crisp silhouettes.

On the main deck, a formal dining area and lounge are juxtaposed to provide the essentials. The remaining 14 passengers are accommodated in seven well-designed cabins, including two VIP suites and four staterooms on the main deck.

The proprietor was attracted to the boat’s family-friendly layout and the fact that the master stateroom featured a private breakfast nook and hot tub. The veranda features a pool, and the aft deck features outdoor dining and lounging beneath a large overhang. The swim platform is accessed via a flight of teak stairs.

Richard Lambert, director of sales at Burgess, added, “It has been a pleasure to work closely with the new owner and Feadship on project Sakura, and we look forward to a continued close collaboration for the completion of this magnificent new build project.”
