Aliko Dangote, a Muslim of Hausa descent from Kano in Kano State, was born on April 10, 1957, into a prosperous Muslim family. His parents are Mohammed Dangote and Mariya Sanusi Dantata, who is a Sanusi Dantata descendant. Halima Dangote is one of his three daughters from a previous marriage. He also has an adopted son.
