Former Lakers center Shaquille O’Neal is a 51-year-old, seven-foot-tall softy who may have earned multiple championships, awards, and accolades. However, he merits solely the accolade of being a wonderful father. Shaq’s approach to parenthood differs from that of his soldier father, Phillip A. Harrison, in that it is more flexible. The father of six children has always expressed his affection for each of his offspring. His daughters hold a special place in his heart, and his sons have been trained to live independently by age 18.
Shaq’s methods contain traces of toughness, but what captured our attention was his interview with Hollywood beauty Mila Kunis on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. Shaq has garnered a $400 million fortune through shrewd investments and lucrative transactions.
During the 2017 episode in which Kunis and O’Neal discussed their vastly distinct parenting approaches, he appropriately dubbed himself Shaq’a Claus. While Kunis and Kutcher are rigorous parents who don’t even over-gift their children at Christmas, Shaq’s gifting strategy for his children left the beauty dumbfounded. “EverythingTheyWant.com,” proclaimed the Lakers legend.
The 1972-born athlete had humble beginnings, which explains why he occasionally splurges on his children. He is bringing up his family in the midst of luxury with opulent mansions in Texas, residences in Florida, California, and Nevada, and three additional residences in the Atlanta suburb of McDonough.
He famously spent $1,000,000 on his daughter Amirah’s 16th birthday celebration.The extraordinary 7-foot-tall man with an equally large heart sacrifices everything for these children. Evidently doting on his daughter, the father lavished $100,000 on Amirah’s birthday party and purchased her a Mercedes for $122,000. Nevertheless, the man with a legendary NBA career maintains distinct boundaries.
His own childhood was vastly different. In a 2021 interview with the New York Post, Shaq discussed growing up in poverty. “I came from nothing,” he declared. “However, just because I succeeded does not make me larger or smarter than you. The fact that I have more money does not make me superior to you. I have never been and will never be that way.”
Shaq stated that his offspring must earn a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in order to inherit his fortune. O’Neal intends to support his children financially only if they complete their education and launch a business in which he can invest. “You must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, and if you want me to invest in one of your businesses, you’ll have to present it to me, boom boom boom. He said, “I’ll let you know; I’m not giving you anything.”
Shaquille O’Neal wants his children to acquire their own money because “we’re not rich. The NBA legend told his children matter-of-factly, “I’m wealthy.” His household has only one rule: an emphasis on education. “I don’t care whether or not you play basketball. “I could care less about any of that,” he stated. “Listen, I have six children. I would like a physician, hedge fund owner, pharmacist, attorney, multiple business owner, and someone to take over my business. However, I inform them that I will not pass it over. You must work for it.”
In order to implement his plans, his offspring will be denied access to his inheritance unless they earn at least two degrees. Shaquille stated, “To get my cheese, you must present me with two degrees.”
