Living Light and Unrestrained; The Columbus Yachts 80m Superyacht Dragon
As we enter the 21st century and witness a shift in the perception of opulence, we come to realize that true luxury lies not in extravagant aesthetics but in the gentle simplicity, comforting warmth, and timeless concept of home. By blending elements of marble and mellowness, this yacht embodies elegance throughout all seasons. This is precisely why M/Y Dragon feels like a breath of fresh air.
Celebrating the Golden Era of Yachting
A single look at her clean classic lines and gleaming snow-white design, and it becomes evident that the owner of this yacht has an enduring love for the allure of the ocean and the more traditional narrative of yachting. Yet, tradition does not necessarily confine one to a rigid framework, as indicated by the contemporary touches like the oversized windows surrounding Dragon. These touches transport us back to the golden era of Italian yachting when Hollywood stars like Bardot and Bacall could be spotted clad in chic white shirts, sipping cocktails along the shores of Portofino.
The warmth of wood, the sunlight pouring in, and the timeless proportions all contribute to a style that remains eternally fashionable. In a world where everyone strives to be groundbreaking, Columbus Yachts has achieved something even bolder by reigniting our passion for the timeless artistry of superyacht design.
Perfection in Precise Timing
Dragon’s journey began on the shores of Naples at Palumbo Superyachts several years ago, where she was gradually brought to life. When Palumbo relocated to Ancona, the substantial hull was transported across the Adriatic to her new home in 2017, awaiting her final touch of style. The timeframe was tight, and concepts had to be imagined in relatively close succession, but with Francesco Guida handling the interior and Hydro Tec guiding the process, this yacht stands as proof that perfection does not always require an extensive timeframe.
Designed with sailors in mind, she boasts a double-tiered engine room, an excellent practical layout, and all the essential features that a yacht captain appreciates. Spanning 80 meters in length and with a maximum beam of 13 meters, Dragon offers vast internal volume, making it a true haven of space on the open seas. Powered by twin engines, she can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots and cruise gently at 12 knots in eco mode.
With six decks, the feeling of fantasy expands, and with 10 cabins, an impressive teak bridge, a wonderful wellness center, a beach club, and endless areas for relaxation, this yacht encapsulates the promise of an endless summer.
