LeBron James was surpassed by Nikola Jokic on a historic NBA list

The 2023 NBA season was dominated by Nikola Jokic, the superstar of the Denver Nuggets. The Finals Most Valuable Player broke innumerable records en route to Denver’s first championship in franchise history, delivering a nightly historic performance. While all of these record-breaking performances were extensively covered as they transpired, ESPN has uncovered a new Jokic record:

Nikola Jokic has led his team in points, rebounds and assists in 6 different seasons — the most by any player in NBA history

Jokic is the only player in NBA history to have led his team in points, rebounds, and assists for at least six consecutive seasons, surpassing Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James. Jokic, who was previously equal with James in this category, surpassed the Lakers star this season and could very well add another to his resume next year.

This sort of category perfectly summarizes Jokic’s performance. In addition to being the first player in NBA history to lead a postseason run in points, assists, and rebounds, the Nuggets’ star excelled at everything. During this postseason run, Jokic demonstrated that there is literally nothing he cannot do on a basketball court.

The fact that Jokic and his team endured skepticism throughout the regular season is what made his run so remarkable. Prior to their historic run, Jokic and the Nuggets had failed to achieve their ultimate objective.
