The world’s largest yacht Icon of the Seas – by Royal Caribbean International – has completed construction at the shipyard in Finland. It measures 365 meters long and weighs about 250,800 tons. This is said to be the largest water park in the world at sea.
Icon of the Seas is under construction at the Meyer Turku shipyard, one of Europe’s leading shipbuilders, in Turku, Finland.
The giant yacht measures 365 meters long and weighs about 250,800 tons. It offers more than 40 dining and entertainment services, most of which are included in the ticket price.
The design of the ship is divided into 8 different zones, each with themed entertainment facilities, restaurants, bars and experience parks.
The idea is to cater to all types of travelers, from areas reserved for young families to adults-only spaces like Royal Caribbean International’s first piano bar.
There are 28 different accommodation types, with more categories for families, more space with ocean views, and group travelers. The cruise line says it’s “perfectly designed with family foundations in mind”.
Icon of the Seas is also the first of three Royal Caribbean International cruise ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and fuel cell technology, as part of the company’s transition to a clean energy future.
Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley told the media that the ship is en route to join the Royal Caribbean fleet on October 26, ahead of its launch in 2024.
Once the Icon of the Seas sets sail in the Caribbean in January 2024, the ship will be capable of carrying around 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew.
