After scoring today, Leo Messi performed the Spiderman celebration!
Lionel Messi refused to rest after scoring seven goals in Inter Miami’s first four games. Inter Miami already had the game in hand, but Messi topped it off with another goal in a 4-0 rout of Charlotte FC.
Messi’s debut in the United States has been nothing short of electrifying, with late winners and equalizers, ridiculous free kicks, bringing teammates into the attack, and dazzling crowds to remind everyone how much fun being the greatest player of all time can be.
As a total team effort propelled the Eastern Conference’s bottom team into the League Cup semifinals, Christian Lattanzio and Charlotte became the latest MLS team to succumb to Messi and Inter Miami’s brilliance. In the semifinals, they will face either the Philadelphia Union or Queretaro, with a chance to advance to the finals.
In the first half, Messi was less influential than usual, but this only served to create opportunities for his teammates. Josef Martinez opened the scoring with a penalty in the 12th minute, and Robert Taylor extended Inter Miami’s lead to 2-0 before halftime. Charlotte FC failed to make the necessary substitutions in the second half, and an own-goal put Miami up 3-0 before Messi sealed the deal three minutes from time.
