The super-rich spend £3M a week to rent the Flying Fox floating palace

Billionaires seeking an alternative playground for the summer, might want to consider the world’s most expensive six-storey charter yacht, the Flying Fox. The elaborate – and expansive – boat stretches to 450ft and is rentable at £3 million a week, or if you drill it down, £18,000 an hour.

The exceptionally luxurious yacht is built with a futuristic cryotherapy chamber, a 400 square metre pool, a balcony exclusively devoted to the practice of yoga and even a medical centre. Hire it and entertain your closest friends and even your extended family, after all it sleeps 25 but can entertain up to 34 during the daytime.

Construction of the Flying Fox began in 2017 in Germany, and, once complete came in at a cost of around £500 million. It was finished last year before being put up for rental earlier this month. To be fully operational, it needs 54 crew members, from bar staff to gym instructors and waiters.

Enter in any number of ways; by helicopter or, if you prefer, by mini-submarine station for those seeking a more covert passage. Those missing their gardens on land, can also bask in the tranquility of their indoor gardens, complete with trees and even a dedicated water garden.

The interiors have been done up by lead superyacht designer, Mark Berryman, with 11 cabins, each with private sea view terraces. The superyacht really is enough to make the likes of Roman Abramovich and Sir Philip Green do a double take, the ultimate in floating palaces.
