Mac Jones and the Patriots offense are set to kick off the 2023 season against a formidable defense when the Philadelphia Eagles visit New England on Sunday.
As the reigning NFC champions, the Eagles had an impressive campaign last season, particularly on the defensive side. In the 2022 season, Philadelphia recorded 70.0 sacks, ranking third in NFL history for sacks in a single season.
Philadelphia boasts a dominant front seven with players like Haasan Reddick, Fletcher Cox, and Brandon Graham, who excel at pressuring the quarterback. Providing Jones with a clean pocket to pass from will be crucial for New England’s chances in their season opener.
“As you saw throughout last year in training camp,” Jones mentioned during an appearance on WEEI’s “Jones and Mego” show on Tuesday, “they’ve done an excellent job. They’ve made smart draft choices in that position. They take immense pride in their defense. They possess the best defensive line in the NFL. Ultimately, we must go out there, compete, focus on what we can control, and understand that we’re up against a group of incredibly talented players.”
