The 26-year-old aims to return even stronger after sustaining a calf injury last month. His absence made the Bengals front office sweat as week one was getting ever closer. Head coach Zac Taylor even refused to comment as to when Burrow would return, seemingly adding fuel to the fire.
Fortunately for the Cincinnati fans, the Pro Bowler teased his early comeback when he showed up before the Packers' preseason game. But there was still doubt whether the medical staff had cleared him to start week one against the Cleveland Browns. To receiver Ja'Marr Chase's surprise, Burrow joined up with the rest of the roster during their last few days of training camp.
Apparently, he has received guidance from none other than Tom Brady during rehab. He thanked the future Hall of Famer for his continued support throughout his journey as a quarterback.
"We’ve stayed in contact," Joe Burrow told reporters on Wednesday. "He’s helped me some. I think that’s what all the great quarterbacks do [across time]. They continue to help the young guys and impart knowledge to them so that they can be their best selves. I’m appreciative of him for that."
