Reports: WWE in Talks to Feature Cristiano Ronaldo at Crown Jewel Event
Recent reports suggest that WWE is actively working on a deal to have Al Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo make an appearance at their upcoming Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia. Over the years, several footballers have ventured into the world of professional wrestling, including Grant Holt, Tim Wiese, and Adebayo Akinfenwa, among others. Even Wayne Rooney made a memorable cameo by slapping WWE superstar Wade Barrett during a 2015 WWE Raw event in Manchester.
Speculation about Ronaldo’s potential involvement in wrestling emerged last year when NXT star Apollo Crews mentioned that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner could transition to wrestling after his football career. Crews acknowledged Ronaldo’s elite athlete mentality but noted the physical challenges of wrestling.
While the likelihood of Ronaldo becoming a full-time WWE wrestler remains low, the company is reportedly interested in having him as a “superstar guest” at the Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia scheduled for November. WWE recently merged with the UFC to create a formidable sports and entertainment powerhouse, and they are keen on boosting the Crown Jewel’s profile by inviting one of the biggest stars in the sports world.
According to reports, Ronaldo’s appearance would come with a substantial appearance fee, aiming to increase the event’s revenue with the presence of Portugal’s all-time top goalscorer.
Wrestling reporter Sean Ross Sapp reached out to WWE for confirmation regarding the Ronaldo rumors but received no official response. The negotiations and speculation continue as fans eagerly await further developments.
