Klay Thompson may hit free agency after no progress in extension talks

The 33-year-old athlete and the franchise are at odds over the specifics of a potential contract extension, according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

“I’ve been informed that there hasn’t been any advancement at all about Klay Thompson’s extension in Golden State. because they are still apart in terms of years and wealth,” Wojnarowski told ESPN.

“And there’s a very real possibility that Klay Thompson goes into free agency next summer without a deal,” Wojnarowski said.

Mainstay Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors played his entire NBA career for the Californian franchise, winning four titles and being selected as an All-Star five times.

Between 2019 and 2022, Thompson had a negligible effect on his club due to an ACL tear and an Achilles ailment. He resumed his pre-injury form upon his return in early 2022, and he helped his team win another NBA championship that year.

Last but not least, in the 2022–23 regular season, he averaged 21.9 points per game on 41% three-point shooting, and in the postseason, he averaged 18.5 points and 4.2 rebounds.
