Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green engraved their names in history once more.
Golden State’s Hall of Fame trio won its 94th game together, the third most in NBA history, after helping lead the Warriors to a 126-125 Game 4 triumph over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday at Chase Center.
Only the Los Angeles Lakers’ core of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Michael Cooper (110) and the San Antonio Spurs’ 20-year dynasty led by Tim Duncan, Manu Ginóbili, and Tony Parker (126) had more wins than the Bay Area trio.
It should be remembered that the cores of the Lakers and Spurs have won five NBA championships during their respective campaigns, while the Warriors have four. Does this imply that Golden State’s three will win their sixth title? That is yet to be determined.
Curry, Thompson, and Green could add to their postseason win total with two victories remaining in the Warriors’ first-round NBA playoff series against the Kings.
However, with the new CBA making it more difficult for companies to build teams way Bob Myers, Warriors general manager and president of basketball operations, has in the past, the era of “Big Threes” dominating in the playoffs may be coming to an end.
Still, Curry, Thompson, and Green continue to demonstrate why they – and the Warriors as a whole – are the gold standard that the rest of the NBA strives to achieve.
And if Golden State continues to perform well in the coming weeks, the three might move even closer to passing Duncan, Parker, and Ginóbili when all is said and done.
