Even though the odds were stacked against them, the Warriors’ last possession determined the outcome of the game on Wednesday. Steph Curry missed the game-winning driving layup with seven seconds left, putting Golden State down two points and ultimately falling to the Denver Nuggets 108-105.
The Warriors had the opportunity to lose this game. They were a mile high against the defending champs, two important defenders in Draymond Green and Gary Payton II, and the last game of a four-game road trip that concluded a difficult start to the year that saw them play seven of their first nine games away from home.
Beginners Trayce In place of Green and Payton, Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski filled in with ease to make it a contest. Jackson-Davis was a plus-four in the game with eight points and two rebounds. Podziemski finished with three rebounds, two assists, and five points.
Curry scored a team-high 23 points in the game, making all six of his field goals from beyond the arc. With two 3-pointers, Moses Moody scored ten points, Andrew Wiggins added eleven, and Klay Thompson finished with fifteen.
Following a four-game road journey that ended with a 2-2 record, the Warriors will return home to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers, whom they previously lost to. Next, they play two two-game series at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
