Stephen Curry, already the league’s all-time leader in made 3-pointers, has achieved another historic feat by becoming the first player in NBA history to record four or more 3-pointers in each of his first 13 games to start a season. In the game against the Houston Rockets, Curry showcased his scoring prowess with 32 points, going 8 of 14 from the floor and 5 of 9 beyond the arc. This marked his seventh game of the season with 30 or more points and the tenth with at least 25. As the final buzzer sounded, Curry humorously raised his arms in celebration.

“Haven’t had good energy walking off this floor in a while,” Curry said of the Warriors’ second home win of the season and first since Nov. 1. “We needed this one for sure.”

Klay Thompson, who had been struggling with his shooting, entered the game shooting 15 of 42 (3 of 19 from 3-point range) over his previous four games. However, he bounced back strongly against the Rockets, making three 3-pointers and scoring 12 points in the first quarter. Thompson finished the game shooting 7 of 16 and recording five 3-pointers. Chris Paul contributed 15 points and 12 assists, playing a significant role in Golden State’s 12th consecutive win against Houston.

“I tell Klay all the time, every time he shoots it I think it’s going in,” Paul said. “Every time I’m pushing the ball up the court I’m looking for him.”

The Houston Rockets, coming off a one-point loss to the Lakers the previous night, found themselves trailing by 14 points and were behind by double digits for much of the game against the Warriors. Despite making a late run to make the game close, the Rockets ultimately fell short.

Alperen Sengun had an impressive performance with 30 points and 13 rebounds for Houston, while Jabari Smith Jr. scored 17, and Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green each contributed 16 points.

The Rockets, who remain winless in five road games this season, have not beaten the Warriors since Feb. 20, 2020. Houston coach Ime Udoka attributed the team’s defensive lapses for allowing the Warriors to take several open shots during the game.

“This is a team, the main team in the league, that takes advantage of those mistakes,” Udoka said. “We were poor on our coverage for the most part. Our attention to deal was not the best.”
