Klay Thompson, the National Basketball Association’s star, was his usual cool self for the Esquire Apartment dinner on Thursday, August 31. He was spotted wearing a Barong Tagalog (yet another Pinoy Pride moment). The other half of the Splash Brothers looked and felt great in his custom-made Barong Tagalog, designed by Bel Savosa and SALVO Tailors.
“Originally, the Barong Tagalog was made from Plain Pia Jusi fabric.” However, as I went across our lovely country in preparation for this event, I couldn’t help but note how many embroidered designs were on most of the Barongs here in the Philippines. “I wanted something simple yet elegant for this one,” Salvosa explained.
“As for Klay Thompson, I embarked on a journey to create a masterpiece that would reflect the epitome of luxury and artistry,” the designer continued. The design I chose for him is called ‘Luxury Full Embroidery,’ and it features the beautiful Sampaguita Petals. These petals signify the Philippine National Flower, a tribute to the rich cultural legacy that this Barong embodies.”
