Malik Monk and the Sacramento Kings snatched a victory from the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, and if the Dubs are searching for the moment when the tide began to actually move against them, it may be when Draymond Green was penalized for a technical foul in the fourth quarter.
Green is one of the sharpest players in NBA history, but he is also one of the most passionate, which can get him and his team into problems. Following his technical foul in the Kings game, Sacramento went to work, erasing a nine-point lead with a blistering 13-3 run.
In the postgame press conference after the Warriors’ 124-123 defeat to the Kings, Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry revealed to reporters what he told Green following the technical penalty.
“I told him to refocus at that point, like let’s just hoop. That was a dumb tech, for sure. We all do that,” Curry said (h/t KNBR).
Warriors need Draymond Green to get it together
Green’s encounter with the Kings was also his first since receiving a five-game suspension for his heated confrontation with Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert. In 33 minutes of action, he ended with eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocks for the Warriors, who fell to 8-10.Golden State is no longer the apparently unbeatable squad it once was, and Green’s antics at such inconvenient times are surely not helping the team.In the event, the Warriors continue to depend heavily on Green, who will attempt to improve against the Los Angeles Clippers at home on Thursday.
