Guard Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers has secured a multi-year extension, amounting to seven figures, with the performance footwear company Rigorer. To commemorate this milestone, Reaves will unveil an updated version of his signature shoe, the AR1, titled “Milky Way.” The exclusive release of the AR1 “Milky Way” is scheduled for 8 a.m. PST on December 8, available solely on KICKSCREW.COM, with a price tag of $100.
“The Los Angeles Lakers star has had an impressive start to his signature line, with his first releases selling out within minutes and restocks that also went on to sell out,” Rigorer shared in a press release. “Now, Austin Reaves has agreed on a seven-figure multi-year extension with Rigorer that will also make him a shareholder in the fast-growing company renowned for producing his successful signature shoe line.”
The upcoming shoe by Reaves will introduce a vibrant colorway featuring lively purple and blue elements. Highlighting various essential attributes, the footwear incorporates an anti-skid heel to diminish the risk of injuries, an anti-slip sole for enhanced court traction, a woven cocoon upper providing both breathability and lockdown support, and an innovative bubble lacing system crafted to eliminate lace bite for players.
“I’m proud to continue this partnership with Rigorer; the incredible team has developed a shoe that aligns with my values – High-performance accessibility,” Reaves said. “The team has welcomed me like family, and I will always appreciate them for believing in me at this early stage of my career.”
Following a remarkable 2022-23 regular season and playoff performance, Reaves has ascended to stardom with the Lakers. His outstanding contributions on the court led to a new four-year deal with the franchise in the recent offseason free agency.
During the Lakers’ journey to the Western Conference Finals in the previous season, Reaves showcased impressive statistics, averaging 16.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 16 games. Notably, he maintained an efficient shooting record, with a 46.4 percent success rate from the field and an impressive 44.3 percent accuracy from 3-point range.
“We are incredibly excited to continue working with Austin and his team; he continues to show incredible promise and utmost dedication to win,” Shawn Liu, vice president of Rigorer said. “These are the values that Rigorer embodies and wants to spread to athletes around the world.”
The “Milky Way” iteration of Reaves’ shoe will complement his existing collection, which includes the earlier released “Stars and Stripes” limited edition. This season, the Lakers guard has notably excelled, particularly after transitioning into a bench role. Reaves is currently maintaining impressive averages of 13.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 46.5 percent from the field and 31.3 percent from beyond the arc.
As a key player alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis, Reaves has assumed a crucial role within the Lakers, emerging as one of the primary ball-handlers. This season has witnessed a notable improvement in his overall performance, marked by career-high averages in points, rebounds, and assists per game.
While contributing to the Lakers’ success on the court, Reaves is also making strides off the court with his partnership and deal with Rigorer.
