When the Golden State Warriors met the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday (Dec. 14), they suffered their 14th defeat of the season. Steve Kerr has made many adjustments to his lineup, including relegating Andrew Wiggins to the bench. While the Warriors were unable to win, the adjustments did bring some extra vigor for the rotation, resulting to a season-high 30 points from Klay Thompson.
Kerr lauded Thompson’s play and how he’s handled a challenging start to the new season after the game. Thompson has shot the ball poorly, averaging 40.7% from the field and 36.4% from 3-point range.
Throughout the first several months of the season, Thompson has received a lot of flak. His position as an upcoming free agent has definitely increased interest in his performances, and the Warriors’ woes haven’t helped matters.
“I thought he was phenomenal.”
Both Kerr and the Warriors’ fan base will be hopeful that the veteran sharpshooter has turned a corner in his output and that he can put his current slump behind him and help Golden State climb the Western Conference rankings. If he can do that, there should be no reason for him not to re-sign with the team at the conclusion of the season.
