Selena Gomez appeared in public for the first time since threatening to deactivate her Instagram account.
On Saturday evening, the 31-year-old actress was caught holding hands with her closest friend, Taylor Swift, during a star-studded ladies’ night out in New York City.
The Only Murders in the Building singer, who announced her intention to deactivate her Instagram account after being mercilessly chastised for being mute on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, looked toasty but fashionable in a tan, turtleneck sweater dress by FRAME.
On the long, knitted dress with balloon sleeves, she tightened her waist with a gold leather belt.
She wore her raven black hair up in a neat and elegant bun to show off a set of massive, gold hoop earrings.’
She paired opaque tights and pointed-toe, slingback kitten heels with her maxi dress.
She was also spotted carrying a black, leather bucket bag with gold hardware that matched the rest of her ensemble.
She chose a soft and dewy beauty look with champagne-colored eyeshadow and thick, fluttering eyelashes for her makeup.
She completed her appearance with coral blush and a latte-colored lip gloss.
While Swift’s NFL star boyfriend, Travis Kelce, was with his Kansas City Chiefs team abroad, Gomez joined Swift and her gang for dinner.
During their night out, the longtime besties were joined by Sophie Turner, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne, and Brittany Mahomes.
Gomez went to Instagram earlier this week to respond to all of the social media people who were condemning her for staying mute on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.
She said in a since-deleted message that writing one post would not “change the world.”
Because to the deluge of comments from her followers, she announced that she would be ‘taking a vacation’ from the site.
‘I’m taking a sabbatical and deactivating my Instagram,’ she tweeted, perhaps in reaction to the anger. I’m finished. I disagree with everything that is going on.’
Instead, she just stopped commenting on all of her pictures and hasn’t updated to her Instagram Story since.
Her new post comes just days after Selena said on Monday that she was taking a ‘break’ from Instagram.
Her ‘heart hurts to witness all the pain, hatred, violence, and terror that’s going on in the world,’ she added, but she claimed that a social media post won’t ‘transform the world’ in response to criticism.
‘People being tortured and murdered, or any act of hatred against any one community,’ she said in a statement.
