Klay Thompson Climbs NBA All-Time Scoring List in Warriors vs. Heat Clash

In Thursday’s matchup against the Miami Heat at the Chase Center, Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors achieved a significant milestone by making history on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Thompson surpassed Dan Issel’s scoring record of 14,659 points, moving into 158th place on the illustrious list. The next target in Thompson’s sights is Richie Guerin, with 14,676 points.

Entering the game with season averages of 17.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, Thompson has displayed a shooting accuracy of 42.6% from the field and 38.3% from beyond the arc in 29 games. Despite a slow start to the season, he has shown improvement over the past month.

The Warriors, with a record of 15-15 in their first 30 games, currently hold the 11th seed in the Western Conference. Their recent form includes a 6-4 record over the last ten games, with a close loss to the Denver Nuggets in their latest outing, led by Nikola Jokic.

In that game, Thompson contributed nine points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block during 32 minutes of play, with a shooting performance of 3/12 from the field and 3/10 from three-point range.

Selected as the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft, Thompson has spent his entire career with the Golden State Warriors. The five-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer played a pivotal role in securing four NBA Championships for the team, boasting career averages of 19.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game. 

Thompson’s shooting prowess is evident with a career shooting percentage of 45.4% from the field and an impressive 41.5% from three-point range across 745 games.
