The RB17, boasting an impressive 1250BHP powered by a V8 engine, is slated for delivery in 2025. Specifically crafted for track-days at race circuits, the hypercar has been engineered to deliver unparalleled performance. However, Horner has hinted at the possibility of adapting the closed-roof design to meet road traffic regulations, adding a potential road-legal aspect to the powerhouse vehicle.

Designed to be “Newey unleashed,” the RB17 is a testament to Red Bull’s commitment to pushing technological boundaries. The project, led by Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT), aims to leverage the accumulated knowledge and expertise over the past eight years. With a production plan limited to just 50 units at a rate of 15 per year, the hypercar has already generated substantial interest, with most units already sold.

Horner expressed his excitement about the project, emphasizing its synergy with Red Bull’s Formula 1 activities:

“[RBAT] has now existed for close to eight years, and there’s an awful lot of knowledge that has been built up in that time. With the budget cap era [in F1], if you want to retain resources there have to be projects that can justify their existence. This is a perfect project utilizing the skill sets that we have, so it will complement our Formula 1 activities rather than distract from them.”

The RB17 nomenclature has historical significance, as it was skipped by the Red Bull Formula 1 team following regulation changes during the Covid pandemic. Following the success of the RB19 in the previous season, winning 19 out of 22 races, there is eager anticipation for the 2024 challenger, expected to be named the RB20.
