Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green expressed initial frustration at comments made by Kevin Durant regarding his suspension for an altercation with Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic. However, Green shared on his podcast that he chose to view the remarks with a positive mindset, leading to a resolution and a decision not to take offense.
On Monday’s podcast, Green explained that he approached Durant’s comments “through the right lens,” easing his initial upset feelings. In response, Durant, Green’s former teammate on the Warriors, clarified that he harbored no “ill will” towards Green.
“I’m glad he’s back. I’m glad he can move past that. Draymond is an incredible teammate,” Durant commented after the Phoenix Suns’ loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He acknowledged Green’s occasional temper outbursts but emphasized that everyone has such moments, expressing joy at having him back on the court.
Addressing perceptions of himself, Durant stated, “I know some people look at me as this malicious snake, passive-aggressive. I know how people feel about me sometimes. When I say (expletive) I don’t mean no harm about nobody. I don’t mean to disrespect him or his family if he felt that way. I’m just glad he’s back on the court.”
Green’s return to the lineup followed a 12-game suspension imposed by the NBA for his altercation with Nurkic. This incident occurred a little over a month after Green’s suspension for putting Minnesota’s Rudy Gobert into a headlock.
Reflecting on the situation on his podcast, Green acknowledged the unproductive nature of harboring anger towards Durant and others who suggested he seek help. The resolution marks a positive turn in the relationship between the two players, emphasizing team unity as Green reclaims his spot on the court.
