Though he acknowledged that his NBA career was coming to an end, Klay Thompson, the shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors, declared he would “do it all over again,” despite suffering two serious leg injuries that put his chances of playing professionally in jeopardy.
As Paul George stated on the latter’s Podcast P, “You’ve got to get a little lucky in this league,” Thompson said. “When you have injuries, you need to take some time off. I’ve been through that with Paul. I consider myself fortunate to still be aiming for five championships. I have no grievances. I’ll relive the entire experience, wounds and all.”

Thompson doesn’t regret his recovery from injuries
When Thompson struck the floor during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals with Toronto Raptors player Danny Green, he tore his ACL, which prevented him from playing the whole 2019–20 season. Thompson also missed the whole 2020–21 season after tearing his right Achilles tendon during a pickup game in the latter stages of his rehabilitation.
In addition, George has had several injuries that have hampered his career. In 2014, maybe at the pinnacle of his fame, he broke his right leg in a complicated fracture. Over the course of his career, George has also sustained injuries to his elbow and shoulder. The 33-year-old has not yet been in the NBA Finals, while Thompson has won four titles in eight years with Golden State.
However, both celebrities admitted to the privilege that comes with being the best in the business.
Thompson made up his mind to savor “every single day”
With the upheaval in Golden State’s executive staff, a new contract agreement is unlikely before Thompson’s current one ends in 2024. However, he essentially informed George that he anticipates this being his final NBA contract.
