GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS FACING INJURY UNCERTAINTY WITH KLAY THOMPSON, KEVON LOONEY

The Golden State Warriors defeated the Toronto Raptors on the road on Sunday night to tie the NBA Finals at one game each, thanks in large part to a scorching 18-0 run in the third quarter. Because of this, the Warriors seem to be back in control and on track for a third straight championship, but they still struggle with injuries, two of which resulted from their crucial win. The main event is the injury sustained by Klay Thompson, who played only 32 minutes before leaving the game due to what the team characterized as discomfort in his left hamstring.

Although Thompson will get an MRI on Monday to further assess the injury, the Warriors said after the game that he is hopeful about playing in Wednesday’s Game 3.

“Klay promised to be OK, but he might be almost dead and yet claim to be alright. After Game 2, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said to reporters, “We’ll see.” “His hamstring became strained. It’s insignificant, in his opinion. I’m not sure what it implies moving forward.”

Golden State is in dire need of Thompson’s presence, especially with Kevin Durant’s injury-related absence already hanging over the whole series. In addition to Thompson, well-known big man Kevon Looney departed Game 2 with a left chest injury that will need more testing, so the team’s depth isn’t exactly a strength right now.

Naturally, Looney’s injury is not as serious as Thompson’s, but to put it simply, Looney has been Golden State’s most consistent center during their playoff run, and even with the arrival of DeMarcus Cousins, his absence from the lineup would be felt. The Warriors are presently 5.5-point favorites at home in Game 3 despite the concern surrounding Thompson’s health, but as tip-off draws near, all eyes will be on Golden State’s injury report.
