When questioned about the consistency of the Golden State starting five, Thompson became a touch irate and said that, despite his career-low shooting percentage, he deserves to be there.
While the Golden State Warriors are unable to finish above.500, Klay Thompson is posting the lowest scoring totals since his rookie year. Prior to the Sacramento Kings game on Tuesday, Thompson engaged in a brief back and forth with media.
Thompson was questioned by a reporter on the significance of head coach Steve Kerr sticking with the same starting five all season long. At that point, the athlete spoke directly to the reporter.
Do you want me benched by him? Bench Covers? You’re free to make suggestions. “I guess thanks, Steve,” Thompson said. “I’m not sure. These things, like patience and time to discover who you are, are sometimes earned. In my opinion, history is on our side in that regard.”
When asked whether he had heard anybody recommend benching him, Thompson said that even if he had, it wouldn’t bother him.
“It doesn’t matter what others think. They are not like us. They converse because they are unable to do our tasks. How come I would [listen]? Come on. I don’t give a damn about what others think right now in my life. Subsequent query,” he said.
This season, Thompson is averaging 15 points a game, which is the fewest since he averaged 12.5 points per game in his rookie campaign in 2011–12. Thompson is now hitting a career-worst 36.7% from three-point range.
