LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves Named to 2024 USA Men’s Olympic Player Pool
USA Basketball has announced the 41-player pool for the 2024 USA Men’s Olympic team, including three Los Angeles Lakers players: LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Austin Reaves. The final 12-man roster for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris will be announced later.
National Team manager Grant Hill expressed enthusiasm about the talent in the player pool and the privilege of selecting the team. The selection process will unfold over the coming months as the team aims to stand atop the Olympic podium once again.
Among the 41 players selected, 28 have previous experience representing the USA in Olympics or FIBA tournament play. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were part of the 2012 team that won gold in the London Olympics, while Austin Reaves contributed to the 2023 FIBA World Cup team that finished fourth.
LeBron James, with the most national team experience among the Lakers trio, has won gold in 2008 and 2012 and bronze in 2004. He has expressed excitement about potentially representing the USA again.
The coaching staff for Team USA will be led by Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, assisted by Mark Few, Tyronn Lue, and Erik Spoelstra. The coaching staff aims to redeem itself after finishing fourth in the recent FIBA tournament.
