As the 2024 Formula 1 season approaches, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are set to step back into a Ferrari F1 car for the first time this year at the end of January. The duo will participate in a Pirelli tyre test in Barcelona, taking the wheel of last season’s SF-23 during the two-day session.

The track time is crucial for both drivers as they prepare for the upcoming season, and the tyre test offers a valuable opportunity for Ferrari to gather data and insights. The sessions are scheduled for January 29 and 30, with the drivers sharing responsibilities on the Catalan track.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Arthur Leclerc, part of the Leclerc family, will also be driving on the first day. Arthur recently joined Ferrari as a development driver, and he will be behind the wheel of the F1-75 during the test.

In addition to the Leclercs, Ferrari junior Oliver Bearman will take on a reserve role, with his running scheduled for January 31 in the F1-75, the team’s 2022 car.

This confirmation aligns with Ferrari’s preparations for the upcoming season, demonstrating their commitment to refining performance and ensuring a strong start to the 2024 campaign. The announcement comes shortly after Charles Leclerc signed a new multi-year contract with Ferrari, expressing his excitement about continuing his journey with the team.

Reports suggest ongoing negotiations, with disagreements over the length of the proposed deal, adding a layer of intrigue to Ferrari’s driver lineup beyond the 2024 season.
