Austin Reaves Unveils Latest AR1 “Valentine’s Day” Signature Sneaker During Lakers vs. Rockets Game
In a spectacular fashion statement, Austin Reaves, the LA Lakers’ rising star, unveiled the latest iteration of his signature sneaker, the AR1 “Valentine’s Day,” during a game against the Houston Rockets. Reaves, who made waves last season after going undrafted, has solidified his presence in the NBA and the world of sports fashion through his partnership with Chinese sports brand Rigorer.
The AR1 “Valentine’s Day” boasts a light pink colorway with a distinctive rose design on the upper, aligning with the romantic theme of Valentine’s Day. The Rigorer logo graces the inside of the shoe, while Reaves’ own branding logo “AR” in a flash design adorns the heel. The tongue features the branding logo along with the text “Austin” inscribed, adding a personal touch to the signature sneaker.
This latest release follows the success of previous AR1 colorways, including “Snowman,” “Milkyway,” “Showtime,” and “Cocoon.” The sneakers are set to drop ahead of the Chinese New Year celebration.
The AR1 signature sneaker line, priced at $100, has gained popularity among sneaker enthusiasts for its performance features and aesthetic appeal. Rigorer’s innovative bubble lacing technology ensures comfort and functionality, while the midsole incorporates ShowTime technology foam for enhanced performance on the basketball court. Additionally, the TPU heel provides stability and injury prevention during gameplay.
Reaves signed with Rigorer in April 2022, marking a groundbreaking move as the first NBA player to secure a signature shoe deal with the Chinese brand. The partnership also involved Reaves taking a stake in Rigorer, with the deal expected to earn the Lakers’ standout seven figures, including royalties from the sales of his signature sneakers.
Reflecting on the surreal journey, Reaves expressed gratitude, stating, “If you’d have told me I’d have my own signature shoe at 18, I’d have looked at you and called you a liar. There’s probably like 20 some people in the NBA who have a signature shoe, so honestly I’m blessed.”
Reaves joins the growing list of NBA players aligning with Chinese sports brands, contributing to the global influence of such partnerships.
