Due to his actions in the infamous Instagram Live video, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended for the first 25 games of the 2023–2024 NBA season. Despite this, Nike has continued to release new colorways of their well-known Nike Ja 1 silhouette. Nike has chosen to help the young player on his path to self-redemption by sticking by Ja Morant despite his mistakes. Days after the incident, they decided not to cancel the first release of his signature shoe, and they watched as the sneaker sold out in a matter of minutes. Since then, Nike has produced a couple more versions with comparable levels of success. They’re giving Ja Morant his own zombie-themed shoe colorway as part of their “Midnight Series” for Halloween 2023.

The slime-green upper of the shoes might or might not glow in the dark. The outer portion of the jagged-looking forest green swoosh is decorated with zombie hands. The back heel is where those same zombie hands emerge. Ja Morant’s number “12” is inscribed in blood red on the heel, and his signature is etched in black on the back. To add to the zombie theme, the shoes have a tan midsole and an olive green tongue.
