LeBron James Calls Out Critics as Joel Embiid Faces Uncertain Future
In a turn of events, Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid found himself at the center of controversy last weekend when he was labeled by some media personalities as “ducking” Nikola Jokic due to a late scratch from a matchup against the Denver Nuggets.
Despite the criticism, Embiid suited up against the Golden State Warriors days later, but it became evident he wasn’t in peak condition. Unfortunately, the decision to play backfired when he suffered a new injury late in the game against the Warriors.
Recent reports reveal that Embiid has sustained a meniscus injury in his left knee, prompting a response from LA Lakers star LeBron James. Taking to Twitter on Friday afternoon, James called out NBA media and personalities, urging them to take accountability for their comments about Embiid’s alleged “ducking” behavior. James expressed the desire to see critics admit they were wrong about the narrative.
“Where are all the media outlets, tv media personalities, hot takes that talked so much ‘sh-t’ about Joel Embiid about missing those games when he knew what he was dealing with.” – James said on his X post (Twitter)
James adds: “Now he’s out with an injury because of it. Not 1 person has went back on tv or their dumbass podcast and apologized to that MAN!! No accountability”
As of now, the duration of Embiid’s absence remains uncertain. The All-Star center will miss the upcoming matchup with the Brooklyn Nets as the team formulates a treatment plan. This setback is a significant blow to Embiid, who was enjoying an MVP-caliber season, averaging a career-high 35.3 points per game, along with 11.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
The Sixers, left in a challenging situation, will turn to Tyrese Maxey to lead the team during Embiid’s absence. With the MVP candidate sidelined, Philadelphia faces an uncertain period, and all they can do is wait for updates on Embiid’s recovery.
