Nuggets’ Julian Strawther Assigned to G League for Game Reps After Return from Injury
In a recent matchup on Friday evening, the Denver Nuggets secured a 120-108 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers in a home game in Colorado. Julian Strawther, who had missed the previous 13 games due to injury, was upgraded to available for the game but did not see any playing time.
Following his return, it has been reported by Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports that Strawther has been assigned to the G League. The decision aims to provide him with valuable game reps after his absence due to a knee injury. The Grand Rapids Gold, the G League affiliate, will have three games in Grand Rapids on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday.
Strawther, selected as the 29th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft from Gonzaga, has played in 33 games for the Nuggets. He is averaging 5.9 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 38.4% from the field and 32.2% from three-point range. Notably, he had an impressive performance against the Atlanta Hawks on December 11, scoring 22 points, one rebound, two assists, and five steals in just 28 minutes of playing time.
As for the Nuggets, they currently hold the fourth seed in the Western Conference with a 34-16 record in their first 50 games. Over their last ten games, they boast a 7-3 record and have been particularly dominant at home with a remarkable 20-4 record in Denver.
Looking ahead, the Nuggets will face the Trail Blazers once again on Sunday evening in another home matchup. The Trail Blazers, currently positioned as the 14th seed in the Western Conference, hold a 15-34 record in 49 games.
