LeBron James has addressed ESPN’s report regarding the Golden State Warriors’ purported attempt to acquire him at the trade deadline, breaking his silence on the matter during All-Star Weekend on Inside The NBA.
“I actually heard about it when everybody else heard about it,” James stated. “Sometimes there are conversations that happen behind closed doors that you don’t even know about. And I guess until it’s real or not, then they’ll bring it to you. But it never even got to me.”
Additionally, James disclosed that his son, Bronny James, has yet to determine whether he will enter the NBA draft at the conclusion of his freshman season with USC.
“It’s up to him, it’s up to the kid,” James explained. “We’re going to go through the whole process. He’s still in season now. He has the Pac-12 tournament coming up. … We’re going to weigh all options and we’re going to let the kid make the decision.”
During the conversation, TNT’s Kenny Smith jokingly remarked about Bronny presumably not feeling immense pressure to enter the league and start earning money, considering the James family’s wealth. LeBron chuckled and responded, “It’s definitely not financial.”
Despite Bronny’s modest statistics of 5.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 20 minutes of play, he is noted for his defensive prowess. However, he currently does not feature among the top 60 prospects on any major mock draft.
