Yet, Reaves recently revealed that he did consider joining the Spurs, acknowledging the allure of playing alongside rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama.

Although Reaves was a restricted free agent, limiting his options, the prospect of teaming up with Wembanyama intrigued him. Reflecting on the situation on Zach Lowe’s podcast, Reaves confessed, “It definitely creeps into your mind, obviously, when there’s, you know, a little bit of talks back and forth about something possibly coming to light.”

Acknowledging Wembanyama’s potential, Reaves admitted his mind wandered into the realm of basketball fantasies, pondering the dynamic duo they could become on the court.

However, despite any contemplation about joining the Spurs, Reaves harbored no doubt about his eventual return to the Lakers. “But I didn’t think there was any way that the Lakers didn’t match whatever was offered,” he remarked. The Lakers’ resolute stance made it clear that he would remain in Los Angeles.

While Reaves could have been an intriguing addition to the Spurs’ roster alongside talents like Devin Vassell and Wembanyama, fate dictated that he would remain a formidable adversary in the Western Conference.
