Ex-F1 Racer Analyzes Aston Martin AMR24 as an ‘Upgraded 2023 Red Bull’

Former Formula 1 driver Romain Grosjean has expressed his observations regarding Aston Martin’s latest Formula 1 challenger, the AMR24, suggesting it continues the trend of being inspired by Red Bull’s design philosophy. Grosjean acknowledges the influence of Red Bull’s successful RB19 from 2023 on Aston Martin’s AMR23 and now the AMR24, but asserts that this strategy is understandable given Red Bull’s dominance.

Under the leadership of team principal Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin has made significant investments to position themselves as contenders at the forefront of the grid. This commitment includes hiring former Red Bull aerodynamics chief Dan Fallows, reinforcing the team’s ties to Red Bull’s design principles.

Grosjean notes the resemblance between the AMR24 and the RB19, particularly in elements such as the sidepods, front wing, and rear bodywork shape. He believes that Aston Martin has effectively built upon the foundation laid by the RB19, which proved to be the fastest car on the grid in the previous season.

While Grosjean acknowledges the influence of Red Bull on Aston Martin’s design philosophy, he praises the team for their innovation and upgrades, anticipating that the AMR24 will serve as a solid platform for further development.

In addition to design convergence, Grosjean also comments on the aesthetic appeal of Aston Martin’s livery, praising the distinctive British Racing Green color scheme. He considers it one of the most attractive liveries on the Formula 1 grid for the 2024 season.
