Geri Horner, best known as Ginger Spice from the iconic girl group Spice Girls, is set to headline this year’s Hay Festival in Wales. The cultural and literary event, spanning over 11 days in the picturesque town of Hay-on-Wye, Powys, attracts over 300,000 people and features a diverse lineup of speakers and performers.
At the festival, Horner will be joining as an author, showcasing her work in children’s literature. She has written several books, including the Ugenia Lavender series and an autobiography titled “If Only.” Additionally, she released a book called “Rosie Frost and the Falcon Queen” last year, showcasing her talent as a storyteller beyond her music career.
Horner will be among a star-studded lineup, which includes renowned figures like Match of the Day host Gary Lineker, former prime minister Theresa May, and esteemed actress Dame Judi Dench. Sports star Lineker will be part of the festival’s Sports Day, while other notable attendees include singer Bonnie Tyler, actor Stephen Fry, comedian David Baddiel, and musician and activist Charlotte Church.
The Hay Festival chief executive, Julie Finch, expressed excitement about this year’s program, highlighting its aim to bring people together and explore different perspectives through storytelling. The festival will feature various events and discussions, making it inclusive for everyone to enjoy.
The announcement of Horner’s participation in the festival comes amid recent challenges faced by her husband, Christian Horner, who was cleared of allegations of inappropriate behavior towards a female colleague after an internal investigation by Red Bull. Geri has stood firm in her support of her husband throughout the ordeal.
Despite the recent controversies, Geri Horner has been seen putting the drama behind her, attending events like the Commonwealth Day Service with grace and style. She continues to engage in her creative pursuits and remains a prominent figure in both music and literature.
