Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors and Trayce Thompson, center fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, are both siblings who have achieved breakthrough status in professional athletics. As such, they are both members of an elite club. The two can now take pride in observing one another’s accomplishments while playing at Dodger Stadium or the Chase Center court.

Klay, 32, told PEOPLE on Monday at Clayton Kershaw’s Ping Pong 4 Purpose Celebrity Tournament that he had always believed Trayce would reach the upper leagues of baseball.

“He just really loved Ken Griffey [Jr.], that was his hero,” according to Klay. “I never really remember a time where he did not have a baseball bat in his hands.”


Traise, who was 31 years old at the time, “was constantly tapping and gripping bats” as a child, according to his sibling. “I felt it was destined for him.” “I was certain of it.”
Klay, who recently co-won his fourth NBA championship with Steph Curry and the Warriors, is now able to observe his sibling from the Dodger Stadium stands.

Additionally, on Monday evening, the brothers participated in the Ping Pong 4 Purpose Celebrity Tournament as a team and competed against one another. Beyond their athletic accomplishments, Klay and Trayce both disclose to PEOPLE that they engage in artistic endeavors during their leisure time. “Trayce is an exceptionally talented artist,” Klay remarks. Klay even recollects his sibling artistically merging his enthusiasm for sports with that of his baseball hero through the medium of drawing. “He would draw Ken Griffey [Jr.] a lot and he was a very talented artist,” according to Klay.
Regarding Klay’s personal interests, Trayce asserts that his older sibling possesses a great deal more than mere prowess in basketball.

“[Klay] is an exceptionally well-rounded individual. He is quite melodious. Although he has always been a bit of a daredevil, he is among the most intriguing individuals you will ever encounter. Although he has a wide range of interests, Michael Jackson is without a doubt his favorite musician. Additionally, Trayce tells PEOPLE that he has relished observing his brother develop a newfound passion for diving, a pastime he began in 2021 after purchasing a boat. “Everyone knows about his boat now, but he actually will dive, like he’ll do some deep dive, not crazy deep, but for him to find that passion was pretty cool,” according to Trayce.
