Stephen Curry Set to Return Against Lakers After Ankle Injury
Golden State Warriors’ star point guard, Stephen Curry, is poised to make his comeback against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday, marking his return to the court since sustaining an ankle injury on March 7th.
Confirming his anticipated return, Curry stated on Friday, “That’s the plan, if everything goes well with practice today… Working hard all week to try to get back as soon as possible.”
The Warriors have struggled in Curry’s absence, posting a 1-3 record since he rolled his right ankle during a game against the Chicago Bulls on March 7th. Their overall record without Curry this season stands at 1-5.
Fortunately, an MRI conducted on Curry’s ankle revealed no structural damage, as reported by ESPN on March 8th, alleviating concerns over the severity of the injury.
Expressing his excitement for Curry’s return, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr emphasized the significance of having their star player back on the court, especially considering the crucial matchup against the Lakers. Kerr remarked, “We need him; it’s a big game tomorrow… I’m thrilled to get Steph back. We’ve got the whole team tomorrow. Hopefully, we can stay whole now for the remainder of the season.”
With 17 regular-season games left to play, Golden State finds themselves trailing the Lakers by one game for the ninth seed in the Western Conference. Curry’s return comes at a pivotal juncture as the Warriors aim to secure their postseason berth and make a push in the standings.
