Gasly Expands His Sporting Empire: From Formula 1 to Football
Renowned Alpine Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly has diversified his sporting portfolio by acquiring a stake in French football club FC Versailles.
Gasly, a celebrated figure in the racing world, has become the third co-owner of the semi-professional club, which is situated in the picturesque commune of Versailles, near the bustling city of Paris. Currently competing in the Championnat National, the third division of the French football hierarchy, FC Versailles is poised for new heights with Gasly’s strategic involvement.
Speaking about his involvement, Gasly said: “I am delighted to get involved with FC Versailles because I have always wanted to get involved in professional football.
In a landmark move, Gasly joins forces with club President Alexandre Mulliez, scion of the Auchan retail dynasty, and his partner Fabien Lazare, to steer FC Versailles towards a future of prosperity and success.
“With Alexandre and Fabien, we share values, ambition and a keen competitive spirit which will allow us to positively develop the club. This is the start of a very beautiful story. Go Versailles!”
Expressing his enthusiasm for the venture, Gasly remarked, “I am thrilled to embark on this journey with FC Versailles. Football has always held a special place in my heart, and now, alongside Alexandre and Fabien, we are poised to elevate the club to unprecedented heights. This marks the beginning of an exciting chapter. Allez Versailles!”
Mulliez, harboring ambitions to elevate FC Versailles into a fully professional outfit, sees Gasly’s involvement as a pivotal asset in realizing this vision. “Pierre’s addition to our team brings invaluable expertise and passion. Together, we are poised to achieve remarkable milestones. With Pierre’s support, we are poised to transform FC Versailles into a powerhouse,” Mulliez commented.
FC Versailles, whose home ground is the iconic Stade de Montbauron boasting a capacity exceeding 7500 spectators, now stands on the brink of a new era fueled by ambition and collaboration.
Gasly’s foray into football coincides with the challenges faced by his Alpine team on the Formula 1 circuit. With the new A524 car posing formidable hurdles, Gasly and teammate Esteban Ocon have encountered difficulties securing points. Nevertheless, Gasly remains resolute in his determination to overcome these obstacles.
Ahead of the upcoming Australian Grand Prix, Gasly affirmed: “It has not been the start to the season that we wanted, but, in reality, it was one we expected to be challenging and that has proven to be the case.”
“Chipping away I’m definitely feeling ready for the next opportunity in Melbourne this weekend.”
“I was in Enstone for a couple of days last week. It was good to spend time with many different people and to discuss a few things on how we can improve.”
“I also took some time at the whole team debrief to say a few words on my feeling inside of the car. I see so much hunger and motivation in everyone at the team to improve our situation.”
“We’ll keep chipping away and we have Australia this weekend to keep understanding more about what we have in our hands.”
As Gasly balances his commitments between the high-octane world of Formula 1 and the dynamic realm of football ownership, his unwavering dedication to excellence continues to inspire fans across the globe.
