When Ja Morant, the troublesome star of the Memphis Grizzlies, returns to the court at the beginning of the upcoming season, having served his 25-game ban, he will have a new, enormous back tattoo.
Two enormous tributes to the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant are included in Morant’s back tattoo.
It took more than ten hours to finish the tattoos.
The recent artwork that tattoo artist Andres Ortega and his colleagues made on NBA Rookie of the Year James Morant’s back was displayed on the player’s Instagram page.
The basketball player needed to sit for over ten hours in a single day to finish the artwork, according to Ortega.
Despite being situated in Glendale, Arizona, Ortega and his group traveled to Miami in order to see the athlete.
The 24 jersey number of Kobe Bryant and the Mamba emblem are now emblazoned on Morant’s lower back.
The remaining artwork depicts the player’s basketball career history and has his jersey number (12), the logos of his high school, college, and NBA teams, and the phrase “Life is a gamble” encircled by two dice and four aces.
In addition, Morant’s birth year (1999) was inked on his stomach and chest, along with crosses, a hundred emoji, doves, and an eye in the center of his chest.
Morant’s recent problems with discipline
At the beginning of the 2023–24 season, the 2022 All-Star nominee will serve a 25-game ban for his second offense of brandishing a gun in an Instagram live video that his friend Davonte Pack posted.
Due to the punishment, the player is expected to lose more than $7.5 million. In the next season, he was expected to make $33.5 million dollars.
In March, Morant was already suspended for eight games for displaying a weapon in a Denver bar while under the influence of alcohol.
