The bench of the Golden State Warriors outplayed the Dallas Mavericks. The starting lineup for the Warriors persevered to end Dallas’ winning run of seven games and return to.500 at home.
After Kyrie Irving’s drive was stopped and the ball was kept from going out of bounds, Draymond Green made a big block on Daniel Gafford.
He also assumed control of the offense, going on a six-point scoring run, four of which were on baskets that Dallas defenders contested.
Late in the game, Klay Thompson added some intrigue by having a layup blocked when leading by four points and then almost making a crazy inbounds play. With ten seconds left, he made two free throws to maintain a two-possession lead, but Green pushed Kyrie Irving to attempt a three-point shot off the backboard to seal the victory.
But it was Maple Jordan and the bench that came through in a game where the Splash Brothers combined to shoot 10-for-32. In addition to his 23 points, Wiggins recorded a steal and a block. The Warriors bench outscored the Mavericks bench 39–11, and they only gave up two of the 17 turnovers the team committed.
Chris Paul finished with five assists and 14 points. Moses Moody finished with four threes and 12 points. In the 31 minutes that Brandin Podziemski was on the court, the Warriors outscored the Mavs by 17 points, despite the fact that he only scored five points.
He also added 10 rebounds and five assists.Steph Curry, meanwhile, continued his poor shooting performance in the second half, going just 5-for-18 with four turnovers despite drawing a few fouls without a call and blocking two attempts.
Luka Doncic scored 30 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists for Dallas while making a few absurd shots that are also known as typical Luka Doncic shots. Kyrie Irving, a frequent Golden State bully, scored 27 points, while P.J.
Washington contributed a wasteful 20, but the club as a whole managed just 23 points.Wiggins, Moody, and CP3 kept the Warriors in the game during an exciting third quarter. Wiggins scored 12 points during the quarter, while Moody sank two three-pointers, one of which was an incredible shot that listed to his right, prompting Mark Cuban to make an instant $25 million bid for a 25% stake in Moses Moody Inc.
The Warriors finished the third quarter on a 14-3 run thanks to two jumpers by Paul, who also assisted on one of Moody’s triples.
Mark, you can be sure that Mr. Wonderful will reject that offer.
The second quarter, particularly when the club plays at home, summed up both the positive and negative aspects of the Golden State Warriors’ 2023–24 campaign. They went on a 14-0 run and kept the Mavericks scoreless for almost five minutes, looking completely unbeatable. Dallas had just seven points after eight minutes of play, and Steph Curry was 3-for-4 from three-point range.
But the Warriors instantly reverted to their worst practices. Golden State turned the ball over four times in the last 2:16 of the half. It was also a group endeavor. Steph Curry was called for a traveling violation, Brandin Podziemski and Klay Thompson committed offensive fouls, and Draymond Green misdirected the ball, allowing Kyrie Irving to score a triple.
The broadcasters also participated. Shortly after Bob Fitzgerald voiced his disbelief at Dante Exum’s remarkable three-point performance, he made a three-pointer to tie the game 49–49.
In the first half, both teams turned the ball over eleven times; however, Dallas gained from more dead-ball turnovers while the Mavericks’ fast breaks were initiated by the Warriors’ errors.
Golden State’s start to the game was not good as the Mavericks jumped out to a 9-0 lead on three three-pointers and numerous Warriors errors. Following a Klay Thompson triple to start the scoring, Steve Kerr correctly determined his team required a tried-and-true strategy to get back on track: a failed replay challenge.
Despite the dubious action by P.J. Washington and Bob Fitzgerald’s six possessions of furious commentary, Kerr’s challenge was unsuccessful as usual. However, the recently inspired Dubs tied the game at 14 points apiece with three consecutive three-pointers from Andrew Wiggins, Curry, and Draymond Green.
After making his first three-pointer of the contest, Thompson is now sixth all-time in three-pointers made. Face-planting, Kyle Korver!
Reggie Miller is the next opponent, and it’s doubtful that Thompson will be able to pass him in the last seven games for the Warriors by making the TK triples.
The fact that Gary Payton II was mic’d up and could talk to the crowd the entire time was one of the game’s highlights.
Fitzgerald remarked, “He made a baby cry, he apologized, and he had a steal and a dunk.” “He completed every task tonight!”
With seven games remaining, the Warriors had a three-game lead over the Houston Rockets thanks to the efforts of their bench. Luckily, the majority of those matches are away from home.
