The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Toronto Raptors 128-111 on Tuesday night, their seventh victory in eight games, led by LeBron James’ 23 points and Anthony Davis’ 21 points and 12 rebounds.
The Lakers defeated Toronto for the 14th time in a row thanks to a 7 for 14 3-point shooting performance by D’Angelo Russell, 14 points from Rui Hachimura, and 12 from Max Christie.
With nine assists and a 10 for 12 shooting percentage, James leads the NBA in lifetime scoring.
After making nine 3-pointers in Sunday’s victory at Brooklyn, James entered the game having matched his career high. With 5.22 seconds remaining in the third quarter, the 20-time All-Star made his lone long shot against the Raptors.
James left the game with 9:22 left in the fourth quarter, after Los Angeles had increased their advantage to 27, 109-82. Davis sat out the entire quarter.
On Wednesday night, the Washington Wizards host the Lakers.
For the Raptors, Immanuel Quickley scored 20 points and RJ Barrett scored 28. In 1997–98, Toronto dropped 17 straight games—a team record.
After missing time for personal reasons and reconditioning, Barrett and Quickley returned, and Toronto’s Gary Trent Jr. sat to rest. After scoring 17 points apiece in the first quarter, the Lakers went on an 18-4 run to conclude the period and take a 34-25 lead.
At halftime, Los Angeles had a 64-58 advantage. The Lakers increased their lead to 100-79 after three quarters thanks to nine points apiece from James and Davis.
Five players, including starting guards Scottie Barnes and Jakob Poeltl, were still out for the Raptors.
Jontay Porter, a two-way player from Toronto, missed his fifth consecutive game because he is still being investigated for possible gambling offenses.
In the fourth quarter, Raptors guard Bruce Brown departed the game due to a right knee ailment.
Lakers guard Gabe Vincent missed the first night of the back-to-back games due to his recovery from left knee surgery, and forward Cam Reddish was not available for personal reasons.
