ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports that Ja Morant, a great player for the Memphis Grizzlies, and his longtime agent Jim Tanner have called it quits. Since Morant entered the NBA as the second overall choice in the 2019 NBA Draft, Tanner has been his agent.Morant has become one of the NBA’s top stars during the last five seasons.
In 2022, he committed to Memphis until the 2027–2028 season by signing a $193 million, five-year rookie maximum agreement. This agreement was the biggest contract ever signed by the team.
Even though he was successful on the court, Morant was controversial off the court.
He was suspended for nine games in March 2023 after it appeared that he flashed a gun in an Instagram Live video while attending a nightclub in the Denver region. A similar video that surfaced in May 2023 after this incident led to a 25-game suspension at the start of the 2023–24 season.
Morant’s left shoulder labral tear will keep him out of action for the rest of the season.
