Williams Driver Logan Sargeant Under Fire, Urged to Revamp Approach
Logan Sargeant, currently facing a challenging season in Formula 1 with Williams, has been advised by former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher to “shake things up” after a string of setbacks.
The 23-year-old American, now in his second full season with Williams, is grappling with similar hurdles encountered during his rookie year.
Struggling to make an impact, Sargeant has only clinched one championship point since joining F1 full-time.
His woes were compounded when Williams sacrificed his race seat to accommodate teammate Alex Albon, following a practice mishap in Australia.
Forced to sit out a race weekend due to a lack of spare chassis, Sargeant was handed Albon’s repaired car for the Japan Grand Prix, only to endure further disappointment with a crash during practice.
Despite efforts to bounce back, Sargeant continues to grapple with midfield struggles.
Ralf Schumacher, renowned in the F1 realm and uncle to Mick Schumacher, has bluntly pointed out Sargeant’s predicament, stating, “He just makes too many mistakes.
It just keeps coming back to the same thing – he’s simply overwhelmed and it’s time for him to realize it and probably do something different.”
As Williams strives to overcome challenges including repeated crashes and spare parts shortages, Sargeant remains resolute.
Reflecting on his recent race, he shared, “After that second stop, I was pushing as hard as I could to catch the group ahead and make something happen. That moment was disappointing, but leading up to it there were some positives.”
With the team’s focus now shifting to the upcoming Chinese Grand Prix, Sargeant and Williams aim to regroup and tackle the challenges ahead.
