LeBron James Breaks Down the Challenge of Defending Steph Curry on the Court

LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors are two NBA veterans who have periodically complimented one another in public statements.

James carried on the tradition in the J.J. Redick podcast’s Mind the Game, discussing how challenging it is to stop Curry and the Golden State Warriors.

“Steph Curry’s issue is not with the ball. James declared, “He’s the f*cking problem,” following the revelation that they had analyzed a video of an open three that Curry had made during a recent 120-134 defeat. “Steph is the most dangerous when he doesn’t have the ball.”

In our league, there aren’t many players who are always the most threatening when they don’t have the ball, according to James.

“I’m saying to the other Lakers, ‘Listen, guys, I’ve been in enough wars with them.'” Regarding his acquaintance with Curry’s and GSW’s style of play, James said, “I get it, coming from a different point of view.

Don’t let up, though, if Steph decides to cut inside the lane. He is rising again. You have to practice truly guarding something that’s uncomfortable repeatedly,” he said. “Guarding Steph is uncomfortable.”

James then took use of the situation, amid all the accolades, to critique younger players in the league and explain why the GSW is still popular after all these years.

“And the problem with our guys, with our league, they are not comfortable with being uncomfortable,” said James. “That’s why Steph and the Golden State will always be relevant because they play an uncomfortable style of play.”

At the end, Redick questioned James on if he personally detests this kind of theater.

He laughed and remarked, “I hate it when you don’t have the personnel to match.”

In their most recent meeting, Curry finished with 23 points (6/6 3FG), 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks against the Lakers. James had 33 points (14/22 FG), 7 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2 steals, in contrast.
