Dixon was a young, fit, and healthy woman with the ideal pregnancy. She and point guard Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies were excited to welcome their daughter, but things quickly turned worse for KK. KK experienced convulsive seizures, hypertension, an emergency delivery, and a near-death experience from an illness she had never heard of at the 31st week of her pregnancy.
She is sharing their story to educate other women in honor of their baby Kaari’s first birthday and the anniversary of KK’s horrific birth experience. Preeclampsia symptoms and indicators should be particularly known to young black women, according to KK.
KK is starting her “I wish I knew” campaign to help with this awareness effort. The Preeclampsia Foundation’s main fundraiser, the national Promise Walk for PreeclampsiaTM, will be held online on Saturday, August 29, in honor of the Foundation’s 20th anniversary. KK, Ja, and baby Kaari will serve as honorary chairmen for the event. To help raise money for the Preeclampsia Foundation, the only non-profit patient advocacy organization in the country committed to increasing public awareness, enhancing healthcare procedures, and accelerating preeclampsia research to identify a cause and cure, KK is starting her own Promise Walk team and urging everyone to join hers.
In honor of Kaari’s first birthday on August 7, with the Foundation’s help, KK is sharing what she wishes she had known about preeclampsia and the cautions she wants other women to take.
“I’m not attempting to scare anyone. Knowledge, in my opinion, is power. KK pleaded, “I want to arm you with the knowledge you need to have the best outcome for you and your child.
On Saturday, August 29, join the JustDoIt4Kaari family team or start your own to participate in the walk from wherever you are and win prizes.
