The legendary big three of the Warriors—Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green—have a new moniker thanks to Trayce Jackson-Davis of the team: the three-headed GOAT.
“It’s great. I call them the three-headed GOAT. They’re monsters. Being able to play with them, the experience they’ve given me, the confidence coach Kerr has given me. Also, throwing in Chris Paul in the equation, it’s been great.”
It’s difficult to place any historic trip above these three in terms of NBA trios. Maybe the Bulls’ threesome of Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman would have been superior in terms of raw talent, but it has been amazing to see what the Warriors three have accomplished together.
Most NBA duos find it difficult to coexist and thrive for more than ten years, let alone trios, yet these three may have the best chemistry of any team we’ve ever seen. Because of their collective brilliance, it’s difficult to envision Golden State without the three players.
The NBA Is No Longer Ruled by The TrioDuring their peak, this core trio helped Golden State to earn the best regular season record ever, going 73-9 in 2016. Regretfully, there was no championship at the end of that year, but the three had previously shown their mettle by winning a crown together in 2015.
Even though the trio’s success as a unit was disrupted by Kevin Durant’s arrival in 2017, they yet demonstrated their greatness by winning the title in 2022 without him.
They experienced a nine-year period during which no team from the Western Conference was able to defeat them in the playoffs—a remarkable feat unto itself.
Although Curry is the finest player among the three, the other two play the ideal roles to allow Curry to dominate the NBA as he has. Klay Thompson is widely regarded as the second-greatest pure shooter in history, after his teammate, while Dray is one of the best defenders of this generation and possibly the greatest pick-and-roll defender of all time.
The three of them resembled a three-headed GOAT, using their respective skill sets and flawless ball movement to compensate for each other’s shortcomings. The group’s second-round exit from the previous year created a huge gap in their defense, which teams from all over the NBA have been trying to fill this season.
The Warriors, who have been in the No. 10 spot for the past few months, are 44-35 this season. If the Warriors defeat the Trail Blazers today, their record will be momentarily tied with the Lakers; nevertheless, the Warriors would capture No. 9 on the basis of the season tiebreaker.
