Nike and Ja Morant have been keeping up with the sporadic releases of his iconic Nike Ja 1 sneakers, but it’s fair to say that without Morant putting on a show every night, the launches just don’t feel full. Even with his injury, the shoes have been a huge hit, and we’ll be seeing them come back in some well-known, timeless hues. One cannot examine the league’s greatest throwback uniforms without bringing up the Vancouver Grizzlies’ teal throwbacks from the past. Famed for his frightening grizzly chest tattoo, Ja Morant is the next great Grizzlies player to join the ranks of players like Bryant Reeves and Shareef Abdur-Rahim. For the Grizzlies’ throwback evenings at home, Nike created updated versions of the uniforms, although as we all know, fans would much rather see these play a more regular part in the lineup.

Another Nike Ja 1 will be created by Nike, this time honoring Ja Morant’s individual flair and the team’s history. “Seasonal” is the name of the colorway, which has a delicate color scheme with subtle color pops and the tiniest details.

For these, Coconut Milk/Coconut Milk-Khaki-Black-University Red-Dusty Cactus will be the official style code. The soft coconut color is evident on all levels of the shoe, and the uppers will be made of a mesh and fabric combination. With a red signature and his number alternating in colors, the Nike Swooshes are white and the heel is khaki. The outside tabs sport Morant’s “JM” insignia, while the inside of the tongue has an additional design.


The midsole is completely covered in that dusty cactus teal tint, which nicely completes the Vancouver concept on these. Fans are eager to obtain them ahead of their anticipated release in April 2024.
