Klay Thompson wants to re-sign with Warriors, but there’s a catch

Throughout the season, people have posed this question. Even though Thompson has had some ups and downs in the 2023–24 season, he has been one of the Warriors’ top players throughout their four-championship dynasty. During his interview on The Draymond Green Show, Thompson answered the query

Regarding his impending free agency, Thompson remarked, “I just can’t believe it’s here.” It’s crazy to be in your mid-20s. You truly believe that you will play for eternity. Because of the uncertainty, I must admit that at the beginning of this year, I was really having a lot of trouble with it.

“I mean, I may have given up on playing time or contract circumstances. creating a lot of excuses instead of simply focusing on enjoying what is right in front of me. Breaking through my shell took around four heart-to-heart conversations with Steve (Kerr). Being like, hey, what’s up? This year, I have to have fun because I deserve it.

I just need to maintain that attitude and express gratitude, and I can still be a really good player. I’m having fun outside. I just have to remember that come July when it comes to free agency. Yes, I would want to rejoin the Dubs. However, I also need to set priorities for my mental well-being and define my priorities for my job at this point.

Klay Thompson has played for the Warriors alongside other players like Draymond Green and Stephen Curry for his whole career. However, there’s a chance that his time with the squad will end in 2023–24. Thompson is amenable to the notion of a reunion in free agency, having said that.
Among the greatest long-range shooters in basketball history is the 34-year-old. Beyond the arc, he consistently poses a threat. Despite having a poor season in 2023–24, Thompson, the guard for the Warriors, is still hitting 38.4% from outside the field. Many players in the league would love to shoot more than 38 percent from three-point range.

Moreover, Thompson scores 17.6 points each game on average. There’s no denying that Thompson can still contribute to a team’s victory, even though he might not be the same player he once was.

His current priorities are taking care of the Warriors as best he can. In NBA free agency, Thompson should also pique interest from other teams in the league.
