The Memphis Grizzlies had a difficult 2023–24 season marred by injury concerns, but Damichael Cole of The Memphis News reports that Derrick Rose said on Monday that he will be rejoining the team for the next campaign:
The 16-year veteran was one of several Grizzlies players that had injuries during the previous campaign. In his 24 appearances with Memphis, he averaged 8 points and 3.3 assists per game.
The Memphis Grizzles, who signed the three-time NBA All-Star to a two-year contract worth $6.55 million back in 2023, are still Rose’s team. Rose was among the best players on the court when he was at his best. He will always remember his best moments in the NBA as a member of the Bulls. During his seven seasons with Chicago, he shot 44.8 percent from the field and averaged 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
“I believe we can (win a championship) next season,” said Ja Morant. Sincerely, if God permits. Assuming everyone remains well.
With Morant, Desmond Bane, and Jaren Jackson Jr. as their core, the Grizzlies have a strong team, but they still need to add some players. The squad does need to rearrange the deck a little bit, even though they were struck by the injury bug and could probably succeed much more simply by having their main players available.
Zach Kleinman, the general manager of Memphis, also spoke through Cole.
Kleiman: “I think we’ll add a significant amount.” He mentioned free agency, draft, and trade as possible methods.”
